London-based Wood Resource Ltd says it plans to import the UK’s first Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified sawn redwood from Siberia in May.
It follows the FSC certification of the Novoyeniseisky sawmill, Krasnoyarsk, by the Soil Association. The mill, believed to be the first sawn goods producer in Siberia to receive FSC certification, can supply redwood, whitewood and larch.
Wood Resource Ltd expects about 70% of its 5,000m3 monthly UK shipments to be FSC-certified redwood. It describes the certification as an important development for its customers and their onward sales.
