The Tropical Forest Trust (TFT) has said that demand for doors manufactured from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified timber is growing in the UK construction industry.

TFT has attributed the growth to recent green initiatives by the government, including the Code for Sustainable Homes.

TFT described the growth as “slow but steady” and said that “in 2008 we shall be increasing our efforts to raise awareness of environmental issues in the UK and other markets”.

“There is still plenty of work for us to do in convincing developers of the many benefits to be derived from using timber from renewable sources,” said Scott Poynton, TFT executive director.

“With consumers keen to adopt green initiatives and reduce their carbon footprints, developers should also recognise how FSC products can help them meet the needs of potential buyers.”

TFT highlighted Vicaima‘s Ecodor range as an example of products using FSC timber to meet the demands of specifiers.
