A recent survey by GfK NOP also found that once the FSC scheme had been explained, half of those questioned said they would probably or definitely choose FSC products in future.

FSC UK spokesperson Rosie Teasdale said: “We believe that the British consumer wants to have the confidence to buy wood products safe in the knowledge that they are not damaging ancient forests, or jeopardising the wildlife or the future of the people who live and work in the forests.”

The research showed 85% of consumers who had seen the FSC logo before had shopped in B&Q, Homebase or Focus during the previous year.

“As an increasing array of products gain FSC certification, the logo should become more widespread in a variety of shops,” a spokesperson said.
