Three girls from the same school swept the board in a furniture design competition – the Forest Education Initiative‘s Wood by Design Challenge which was supported by Weyerhaeuser Europe.

The pupils from Hitchin School for Girls took the first three places in the contest which attracted 160 entries from Hertfordshire schools. Weyerhaueser provided a supply of Medite MDF for entrants and a cheque for the winner.

Students were asked to design and build a piece of contemporary furniture for use in a public space, using materials from sustainable resources. Natalie Brady’s conical bar table took first prize.
