A Suffolk furniture manufacturer has been fined £10,000 by magistrates after one of its employees badly injured his arm in a veneer press.
HNB Ltd of Newmarket pleaded guilty to breaches of health and safety regulations before Mildenhall magistrates on September 18.
The court heard the employee was injured after triggering a magic eye enabling him to feed board into the press incorrectly by hand rather than by foot pedal.
The company accepted responsibility but said in mitigation that the employee had used an unauthorised short cut.
