More than 70 chief executives and association leaders from the paper and forest industries attended the ICFPA’s third roundtable in Shanghai on June 7 and discussed sustainability, energy and climate change.
This was coupled with the publishing of the Sustainability Progess Update, which reported that ICFPA members have widely adopted certification schemes, taken steps to eliminate illegal logging, initiated paper recovery schemes and are actively involved in multi-product recycle programmes.
The most recent G8 Summit, held in Berlin, has focused heavily on climate change, reducing carbon emissions and sustainability, with leaders from America, the UK, Russia, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and Germany agreeing to take steps to reduce greenhouse gas output and work towards tackling global warming.
