The National Timber Company (SNBG) of Gabon saw turnover rise 12% last year, according to Africa Online.

Sales of timber to China and India grew at the expense of Europe, which saw a 30% reduction in the level of timber imported to 10,404m³.

Mahogany was the top species, with 74% of total sales. Other species include azobé, moabi, iroko and okoumé.

SNBG, the oldest exporter is Gabonese wood, is owned by the state (51% stake), private shareholders (43%) and employees (6%).
