Spanish plywood producer, Grupo Garnica Plywood says it will complete its investment in its new state-of-the-art factory – dubbed Baños de Río Tobía II – in June.

The work, which began two years ago, will enable the group to expand its product range into larger panels – a move the company says will make it the only Spanish manufacturer able to produce such sizes.

In addition to the new ‘jumbo’ plywood range, there will be 100% okoumé, okoumé-faced poplar plywood panels, as well as combination ilomba and fromager.

The company is also close to completing a fifth new plant in France, and says it will begin the production of veneers “when it becomes necessary to the group, and as soon as the global economic situation improves plywood demand”.

When both new plants come on stream, Group Garnica Plywood will reach a production capacity of 230,000m³ plywood a year.

Last year, the group´s sales exceeded 135,000m³ with a turnover of €79m with 400 staff.
