Salford-based timber and sheet materials importer GE Robinson & Co Ltd is to celebrate its 70th anniversary in April.
The company, which has made three acquisitions in the past four years, had its beginnings in 1914 under the name of Wood, Robinson & Collins.
This initial business was dissolved after a few months and George Robinson formed a new firm called GE Robinson & Company, which moved to the current site in 1918.
It became a limited company in 1935 and 10 years ago was purchased in a management buyout by Bob Telfer and David Catterall.
Since then it has taken over the business of HLH Timber & Plywood Ltd, Garstang Timber & Plywood and, most recently, Makerfield Timber.
