German timber company Hirschbach GmbH has celebrated its 100th anniversary.

The sawmill, located 70km from Stuttgart in the Swabian forest, marked the milestone by inviting 500 people to its anniversary celebration, including customers from England, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland.

The company is led by president Bernd Hirschbach together with his daughter Claudia, executive vice-president, who is the fourth generation of the Hirschbach family at the firm.

Hirschbach’s production is mainly whitewood produced on a Linck saw line. A frame saw is used for bigger logs and bigger dimension timber.

Annual output of logs is about 250,000m³, with customers including timber traders, the packaging industry, the laminating sector and prefabricated housing industry.

“In the last years our company has been constanly modernised and we are now able to kiln dry over 50% of our sawn timber,” said Claudia Hirschbach.
