The Ghana Export Promotion Council (GEPC) and the Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) have reached an agreement to increase exports of wood products and timber into Europe.
The deal will see CBI provide information on EU market developments, training to Ghanaian businesses on trading in Europe and entry level requirements, which will enable “economic prosperity through direct support to the private export sector”.
Edward Collins Boateng, GEPC executive-secretary, said that the deal would boost exports of non-traditional products beyond the current 54%.
This will “contribute to trade-led development by strengthening the competitiveness of firms and promoting their participation in international trade with EU and European Free Trade Association countries”, said Mr Boateng.
