Global softwood shipments rise

8 December 2014

Softwood lumber shipments this year are set to be the highest since 2007, according to Wood Resource Quarterly.

However, price trends vary across different markets. Softwood lumber prices in the third quarter were on a downward trend in the US, although they were still close to a 10-year high.

Prices were also falling in Russia and Japan but on the rise in China and the Nordic countries, the latter in response to higher demand in key markets in Europe and the MENA countries.
