The report says there were 118 fires in timber frame buildings under construction between April 2009 and March 2012, compared to 1,103 fires in buildings under construction whose structure was of no special construction.

This gives a comparison ratio of 1:9, compared to a ratio of 1:57 when fires in timber frame versus no special construction buildings which were not under construction were considered.

The report says fires in timber frame building on average caused more damage than fires in buildings of no special construction, but fatality and non-fatal casualty rates were very similar.
