The Green Building Store is claiming to be the first company to launch a UK manufactured range of doors and windows made solely from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified timber.

The Meltham-based firm says its relaunched Ecoplus System range, designed in conjunction with TRADA, uses 100% FSC-certifed wood.

Ecoplus products were first manufactured by the Green Building Store in 1995 but did not contain certified wood.

Spokesperson Chayley Collis said: “It has been an objective for a long time but it’s been quite hard to source FSC wood. We have now managed to secure a good source of FSC timber.”

FSC-certified European laminated oak or redwood is used in the Ecoplus range, which has also been re-designed following a successful contract to supply windows for a new accommodation block at Magdalene College, Cambridge. A European flush sash profile is designed to give windows a versatile and contemporary appearance to suit modern and traditional buildings.

Environmental design features in the range include ultra-low emissivity double- or triple-glazing, technically advanced spacers to help maximise thermal efficiency and use of boron timber preservatives and natural timber finishes.
