Four new projects have been announced by Scottish forestry minister Rhona Brankin, with money coming from the £13m Strategic Timber Transport Fund.
One project, the Tarbert by-pass in Argyll, was awarded £600,000. It will allow the upgrading of 2.5km of the B8024 to create a preferred timber haul route, removing around 8,000 lorries a year from Tarbert town centre.
The projects are the second batch of schemes to benefit from the fund. A number of other projects are still under consideration by Forestry Commission Scotland.
