Private and public sector housing have been highlighted as growth areas in the DTI‘s latest construction industry order figures.
The performance of the sectors is in stark contrast to the UK construction industry in general, which saw orders fall by 7% in the year to February, compared with the previous 12 months.
Private housing instructions rose by 3% for the year, while the residential public sector experienced an 18% boost.
Elsewhere, infrastructure orders fell 21%, public non-housing (excluding infrastructure) dipped by 9% and private commercial was down 11%. Private industrial orders were up 5%.
