Confusion over the gas oil and diesel fuel dangerous goods rules has prompted the publication of guidance spelling out the regulations.

The Freight Transport Association (FTA), the Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) have joined forces to issue the guidance.

A compliance planner in A2 wall chart format explains the regulations as they apply to the carriage of gas oil and diesel fuel in jerry cans, drums, bowsers and tankers.

John Hix, general manager of the FTA’s dangerous goods consultancy service, said the regulations are now in force, but important concessions have been won allowing the continued use of certain types of bowser and time to get drivers through ADR driver training courses.
