Company owner Bill Parton told TTJ the council’s approval for Hales to operate HGVs and its kilns on a 24-hour basis at the Market Drayton site meant the build project could now go ahead. About 30 jobs will be created.

The original planning permisson, granted last autumn, had stipulated 8am-7pm weekday operating hours, which Hales said was unviable.

Some local residents had objected to unrestricted operating hours on the grounds of noise and disturbance.

Mr Parton said it was hoped the project would now get under way in the autumn, although 17 protected newts would have to be removed from the site first.
