Halspan managing director John Martin confirmed that Halspan would continue to develop and sell Moralt products, following a Moralt AG board meeting.
The company was previously responsible for marketing and sales of Moralt blockboard, laminboard, specialist panel products and door blanks outside German-speaking countries – including Continental Europe (but not UK), North America and the Gulf region.
It remains the international marketing and sales arm, but Moralt AG now takes over responsibility for the rest of Continental Europe.
Moralt AG CEO Klaus Feile said Moralt would now concentrate on its peformance door business, while its partner SWL Tischlerplatten Betriebs-GmbH, which together with Halspan took a shareholding in Moralt last May, will take over Moralt’s laminboard operation, including the production facility at Bad Tölz.
The move sees SWL strengthening its position as an overall supplier of wood-based panels with block and laminated cores.
A sales arm which handled SWL and Moralt AG’s business in German speaking countries will now only handle SWL’s sales, with Moralt’s own sales department handling its own product sales throughout Europe.
"We will take this chance to optimise our core business and the co-operation with our business partners," said Mr Feile.
He said Moralt’s performance door blanks and application systems would be extended significantly in the next few years.
Moralt’s products were used in the athletes’ village for the London 2012 Olympics.
