Halspan launches new range of fire doors

30 June 2020

Global fire door supplier Halspan has launched a new range of fire door products into the UK market to meet demand for fully certified solutions in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Scotland-based Halspan said its new launch of Halspan XT was designed to meet interest from councils, housing associations and other landlords looking for a reliable fire door product. It will be running webinars on the products on July 15 and August 5.

The company said the new XT range of fully-certified solid timber core fire door blanks was a significant step-up on its already high performing ProTech product.

Developed specifically for use in exterior, fully exposed conditions, the XT range of fire door blanks feature a three-layer solid timber core and Class 3 exterior grade plywood facing and adhesive.

For internal applications, the new IT range of fire door blanks features the same three-layer solid timber core, faced with MDF for a superior finish.

"The new XT and IT products are here to answer a problem in our industry,” said technical director of Halspan, Rhod Williams.

“When fire doors are installed into a building by a landlord - private or public - they must be able to trust in them. Halspan’s robust chain of custody ensures both consistency of supply and the quality of the product. Additionally, all our timber is FSC Chain of Custody certified.”

Halspan said the XT’s extensive dual scope data covering both fire resistance and security meant it could therefore be used with a variety of ancillary components, to offer flexibility.

Mr Williams said the IT range complemented the Halspan range of particleboard door blanks, highlighting time and productivity benefits as there is no need to calibrate sanders.

The webinars on July 15 and August 5 will cover the benefits of installing the XT range into buildings, its technical specifications and why the supply chain must react in the wake of Grenfell. Attendees can sign up at Halspan Webinars
