The University of Hamburg’s wood science department and forest products consultant Applikatio have formed an International Wood Academy.
The academy will run five training programmes covering timber technology and business studies for professionals and management already working in the sector.
“Wood-based panel production (particleboards/fibre boards, OSB and others) – processes, properties, uses” will be the first course to take place from August 30 to September 24 at the university.
Others include sawn timber production and further processing of solid timber; lamination and further processing of panels into components for interior decoration and construction; manufacture of wooden building components; and panel-based furniture making.
The courses, which include seminars, field trips, laboratory work and case studies, each last three to four weeks and are in English.
