The Wood Protection Association has produced a new guide on hazardous waste disposal following the implementation of tough new regulations in the area.
The rules on dumping dangerous waste in landfill were tightened further in July, leaving just five sites across the UK licensed to handle such material.
The WPA’s new “Guide to the Disposal of Wood Preservative and Preservative-treated Wood Wastes” covers the classification of waste, with creosote and CCA-treated material, for instance, designated hazardous, but joinery and timber treated with new copper-organic CCA substitutes non-hazardous.
