Holmen is investing SKr2.3bn in a new boiler at its Iggesund mill.
The new boiler and turbine mean the mill’s capacity to produce its own electricity will grow from 210GWh to 520GWh.
“The investment means an increase in energy efficiency and the opportunity for Iggesund Mill to become self-sufficient in terms of electricity, which is crucial to its profitability and competitiveness,” said Holmen president and CEO Magnus Hall.
The construction period is estimated at two years and will involve 1,000 people.
