A growth in the volume of Finnish forests means a rise in felling opportunities, according to the latest figures.

The results of the 10th National Forest inventory reveal that the total volume of Finland’s forests is 2.2 billion m3 – more than 100 million m3 than in the previous survey in 2003.

The figures also show that forest growth has accelerated. Annual growth is now 99.5 million m3, in comparison with 86.7 million m3 in the preceding survey. With annual drain running at 70% of total growth, that means the growing stock volume is increasing.
