Indiawood 2008 has been hailed as a success, with over US$20m of business taking place at the show and a further US$250m to follow from contacts made.

The European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (Eumabois) said that the show had attracted over 18,000 visitors and 400 exhibitors, more than half of whom came from overseas.

Indiawood, which took place from February 29 – March 4 in Bangalore, also included the launch of Delhiwood, a further exhibition for the Indian woodworking sector, which is due to take place in February 2009.

“Indiawood 2008 has presented the best technologies that the country needs to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for new buildings and wooden products,” said Eumabois president Franz-Josef Buetfering.

The next edition of Indiawood is due to take place in early 2010 in Bangalore.
