Twenty-one composite timber/plastic windows have been installed at the Gibraltar Embassy in London without the need for any scaffolding.
Use of scaffolding on the building, positioned on a busy road, would have caused major disruption so Black Millwork supplied and fitted Andersen Woodwright insert windows in two days.
The window design allowed installers to leave the existing outer frame intact and just replace the inner sash.
“By removing the time taken to erect scaffolding and fully dismantle the frames, the project was completed significantly faster than most standard window replacements,” said Andrew Bell, of Allen-Bell Architects.
“If we had gone down the traditional route and replaced every outer frame it would have taken us at least three weeks.”
The Woodwright insert window is made from Fibrex, comprising more than 50% pine wood fibre and a thermoplastic polymer.
