The internal doors market was worth worth a total of €7.3bn in the five biggest European markets during 2007, according to a new report.
Consultant Interconnection Consulting (IC) said 49.9 million units were sold during the 12 months.
But IC says the construction slowdown will lead to a 5.8% decrease in volumes in “the years to come”.
Spain is predicted to take the biggest hit with a 13.9% fall but the UK will remain the biggest market in terms of quantity and value, albeit with a softening in volumes.
By 2011, Germany is expected to take over the second spot from Spain in volume terms.
Flush doors have a 48.6% market share in the leading five countries, followed by moulded doors with 45.7% and solid timber with 5.7%.
