The May 9-12 exhibition, billed as the world’s largest trade fair for suppliers of the furniture industry and interior design, is expected to attract about 1,300 exhibitors from 60 countries. The display area is 10% bigger than two years ago.
“The well known breadth and variety of the Interzum product range will characterise the trade show once again this year,” said Udo Traegar, Koelnmesse GmbH’s vice-president of interior design and textiles. “We are particulary proud of the return of major manufacturers from the wood materials industry.”
Timber and wood-based materials will feature in halls five and six at the Cologne show, with Danzer, Weyerhaeuser, The American Hardwood Export Council and Pfleiderer among the exhibitors.
New designs will be the principal focus in the surface and wood materials areas, with the concept of lightweight construction expected to play a major role. 3D or unusual patterns are predicted to feature in the products presented by veneer manufacturers.
Other Interzum features include the 11th European Veneer Day (May 10-11) and the Interior Design Day (May 12).
