The Cologne show attracted 50,000 visitors, a slight increase on the 49,000 recorded in 2005, while exhibition space was increased by 10%. A total of 1,361 companies from 61 countries exhibited, up 5% on two years ago, with several major wood products companies returning to the event.

The figures led Wolfgang Kranz, executive director of organiser Koelnmesse, to claim that Interzum had strengthened and consolidated its position.

Hubert Schwarz, chairman of the Interzum advisory board, also said the show had been a success, driven by the number of German visitors.

“The great expectations, which we have placed in Interzum, have been completely fulfilled,” he said.

Mr Schwarz concluded that “this Interzum had been fantastic”, with Mr Kranz adding that the event had helped exhibitors “increase their own corporate and enterpreneurial success”.
