The board of Holmen has decided to complete the Iggesund sawmill with a SKr75m investment in a new wood sorting unit.

This latest investment will replace the spend previously proposed for a new finishing unit, the cost of which was estimated at SKr175m.

The new unit, which aims to improve the sawmill’s profitability, could be in production by the end of the year. Iggesund Timber will then discontinue its operations at Håstaholmen in Hudiksvall.

Leading up to this move, the company is preparing to open negotiations with its workforce on cutting jobs.
