Speakers from some of the world’s top architectural practices will outline their experiences with wood at the Institute of Wood Science (IWSc) annual convention in October.

The theme of this year’s event is “How does wood help to sustain the built environment” and the aim is to attract architects to hear building project case studies all successfully using wood.

Among the speakers will be Peter Ross of Ove Arup, Matthew Hoad of the Michael Hopkins Partnerhip, and Michael Dickson of Buro Happold.

Penny Bienz of Forest Forever and Suzy Edwards from the Building Research Establishment will present a session on wood in the environment. Timber protection, refurbishment and environmental impact will be covered by Des Raj of Window Care Timber Systems; Geoff Taylor of Akzo Nobel Woodcare and Gordon Ewbank of Osmose.

The convention is sponsored by the Timber Trade Federation, wood. for good and the American Hardwood Export Council and is endorsed by the RIBA Journal and TTJ.
