James Jones Timber Systems Division’s JJ-IntelliRoof prefabricated roofing system is participating in a pilot Scottish housing project designed to deliver ultra-low energy bills.
The system is being used for all four houses, two timber frame and two masonry, being built by City Buildings at the Skills Academy in Glasgow and which will be monitored for energy efficiency.
Ross Brown, engineering manager at the timber systems division, said James Jones was keen to be involved in the project, particularly as it specifically addressed the critical issue of fuel poverty by championing the use of energy-efficient systems.
Glasgow Housing Association has set a target of £100 per year for heating and hot water bills at the project.
The JJ-IntelliRoofs supplied are clad in rubber roof tiles manufactured from recycled tyres and insulated with 300mm Rockwool Flexi insulation, designed to deliver a U-value of 0.13W/m²K.
James Jones has donated 25% of its JJ-IntelliRoof products to the project and provided all design and site support free of charge.
