Swedish spruce sawmiller Jarl Timber AB is reducing production during the Christmas and New Year holidays due to weaker demand.
“Because of the cold weather we find that the demand has decreased in recent weeks, and that will most certainly last for a period into next year,” said the Broakulla-based mill.
The management has also decided to shut down the small logline so it can focus its full attention on the main logline.
The small logline was built in the early 1970s and requires major upgrades to continue safe working, “so it was a natural decision to shut down the line”, said Jarl Timber CEO Kjell Gabrielsson.
“The cutback will not affect any employees,” he added.
