In response to homeowner problems manoeuvring furniture up and down staircases, Jeld-Wen (UK) is now able to supply staircases with detachable balusters and newel posts.
The staircases, manufactured at the Boulton & Paul factory in Melton Mowbray, have accessible bolts that secure the newel to the rise. The newel and balusters can be disassembled using basic tools in under half an hour to allow easy movement of furniture up and down stairs.
The new staircase, which allows the newels and balusters to be slotted back into place, is being supplied to house builders Bovis and Barratt Homes.
