Underlining the growth in the use of structural insulated panels in the UK, machine specialist JJ Smith & Co has brought out a new brochure dedicated to equipment for SIPs processing.
The company says the technology included is suitable for both of the main types of SIPs used in the UK: those incorporating rigid polyurethane foam between their OSB outer panels and those using rigid expanded polystyrene (EPS).
Among the machines is a CNC router capable of processing panels up to 300mm deep, a specially designed cross-cutter with a long reach radial arm for cutting straight panels up to 190mm deep and 1220mm wide and a heavy-duty automatic horizontal saw for ripping SIPs up to 7.5m long and 180mm deep.
It also includes a spindle moulder for routing panels to insert timber or smaller SIP splines, a heavy-duty power band resaw for cutting large-section timber splines and a range of associated equipment such as conveyors, butterfly tables and extraction technology, plus tooling.
JJ Smith, says the brochure, also undertakes SIPs production line and factory planning.
