Door and window manufacturer Jeld-Wen UK Ltd has given financial backing to a fire service campaign to prevent fires in the home.
The company has contributed to the cost of the production of material for Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s “Home Safety Check” campaign which encourages people to ask fire prevention officers to visit their home and advise how fire risk can be reduced.
The scheme is part of the government’s Local Strategic Partnership drive which wants to bring fire services together with their local community.
Jeld-Wen’s aim is to bring attention to the fact that correctly fitted fire doors can save lives and a company spokesperson said: “We are working with the British Woodworking Federation and the Construction Products Association to try and influence forthcoming changes to building regulations as we would like to see more fire doors in new homes.”
