Kronospan says it is the first UK wood-based panel manufacturer to receive accredited certification for its environmental management system.
Following evaluation by BM TRADA of its manufacturing process for impact on the environment the company has been awarded an ISO 14001 certificate.
Iain Ferguson, environmental co-ordinator at the Chirk site, said: “We are very proud to officially be the only wood-based panel manufacturer in the UK to comply with all international standards for environmental management systems.
“The standard ensures everyone on the site is trained and contributes to the reduction of pollution, which in turn improves the lives of local residents.”
