A new sawmill costing US$5m will be constructed for Latvian wood processor Kurekss to increase sawn wood production.
The Ventspils facility, expected to be completed by March, will double the company’s current production of 70,000-80,000m3.
Kurekss wants to raise production levels until 200,000m3 a year is reached. It is looking to achieve a 13m lats turnover this year and 15m lats next year.
The UK is one of the major importers of the company’s timber.
