Russia’s Lesprom Industry Consulting received more than 6,000 requests to buy and sell timber worth around US$144m at its on-line market place between January and May.
The Lesprom Marketplace can handle transactions for all timber regardless of species, origin, size, grade and delivery terms.
The database contains information on some 10,000 timber and timber-related businesses from more than 70 countries and is the largest of its kind in eastern Europe.
Lesprom.ru is divided into four sections – the Marketplace for buying and selling timber online; the Information Centre which gives daily industry news, currency rates, statistics and an events calendar; Directories of timber and timber related companies and timber products; and Community – a list of the professionals of the timber industry.
