Housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel Group is sponsoring North Ayrshire swimmer Jordan Hughes as he sets his sights on qualifying for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
Jordan has won gold medals in both the 100m and 200m freestyle four years running at the British Age Group Championships. At the 2011 competition, where he set a new Scottish record for the 200m freestyle, he was confirmed as the most successful Scottish age group swimmer. He also recently won gold in the 200m butterfly, silver in 100m butterfly, was fifth in the 400m freestyle and seventh in the 200 individual medley.
Jordan trains both in and out of the pool for more than 16 hours a week, fitting his schedule around school work.
Mactaggart & Mickel is involved in the City Legacy project in the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games, which includes construction of the athletes’ village in Dalmarnock which will provide more than 700 homes and flats once the Games are finished.
