Within hours of Makita (UK) Ltd receiving an urgent £80,000 order for cordless power tools from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) the equipment was shipped to the Gulf.
The Milton Keynes-based company responded immediately to an Urgent Operational Requirement Communication from Royal Engineers in the Gulf who discovered a shortfall in their equipment inventory as demands for construction of temporary rapid build camps increased.
The order came through the Workshop Support Services (WSS) integrated project team based at the MoD, Andover which already had a long term “enabling contract” with Makita. Much of the company’s product list has NATO codes after undergoing rigorous military trials.
The order comprised 48 “kits” made up of 333 power tools including hammer and combi drills, saw, jigsaw and accessories.
