A quality assurance scheme for roof truss production and installation in Malaysia has been drafted.

The scheme was put together by a task force led by the Construction Industry Development Board and comprised the timber industry, universities and government agencies.

The move follows last year’s decision by the public works department to suspend prefabricated timber roof truss construction due to quality and safety considerations.

The suspension has now been lifted on selected companies who were successful in roof truss testing.

Meanwhile, a National Workshop on Timber in Construction – Prefabricated Timber Roof Truss Construction will be held at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia’s auditorium on July 1-2 to update the industry, engineers, architects, contractors and others on the latest developments.
