Forestry Commission Scotland has appointed Gordon Mann as a new non-executive member to its National Committee for Scotland.
Mr Mann has more than 25 years’ experience working in local government, including as a planning executive and Convention of Scottish Local Authorities planning committee adviser. During this time he worked closely with the FC and the government on local forestry policy, planting schemes and landscape character assessment.
As managing director of the Crichton Development Company for the past 12 years, Mr Mann has been responsible for developing the award-winning business park and Crichton University Campus, a collaboration of the Universities of Glasgow, the West of Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway College and the Scottish Agricultural College, that is estimated to contribute £300m to the south of Scotland economy. He is now part-time chief executive of the Crichton Trust.
National Committee acting chair Hamish Macleod said Mr Mann’s expertise would help to drive forward the Scottish government’s agenda for forestry, providing economic, environmental and social benefits.
