New proposals from CITB-ConstructionSkills and the Construction Products Association (CPA) have been mooted which will link manufacturer training courses with vocational qualifications.
A special briefing for manufacturers and suppliers interested in training their sectors and the types of training that are eligible for CITB support will be held at the CPA Store Street, London offices on February 10.
The move follows a nine-month pilot project across three sectors – single ply roofing, fire protection and resin flooring. CPA chief executive Michael Ankers said: “Manufacturers and suppliers are keen to support training in the industry to ensure products are installed properly and clients are provided with best value construction projects.
“As we move to a more integrated approach in the construction industry, it is very encouraging that CITB-Construction Skills is now recognising the enormous contribution that manufacturers make to improved training, and is prepared to givre financial support for this.”
