Martin cancels participation at Ligna 2021
16 March 2021Leading German woodworking machinery manufacturer Martin has cancelled its participation in this autumn’s Ligna exhibition due to uncertainty over sufficient Covid-19 vaccination levels among its staff and customers by then.
The manufacturer of saws, moulders and planers said it had made the decision with a “heavy heart” to not attend Ligna on September 27- October 1.
Ligna is the world’s largest woodworking technology exhibition and attracts around 100,000 visitors to the biennial show.
Martin said it had already lost the opportunity last year to exhibit its technology at the important Holz-Handwerk trade fair in Germany.
“We consider the chances of a successful and, above all, safe participation in the fair to be extremely uncertain even after the postponement," Michael Mühldorfer, marketing manager at Martin explained.
“Since it is still not foreseeable to what extent our employees and customers will be fully vaccinated by September 2021, we saw no other option than to cancel.
“The guiding principle for this decision was and is focused on the health of our guests and employees.”
