Martinsons has been named timber construction supplier for Stockholm’s first eight-storey building made entirely from wood.
Four apartment blocks will be constructed by Martinsons in what is its largest-ever construction project.
For architect Arne Olsson of Folkhem Produktion AB the apartments in Sundyberg represent part of a larger investment in wood construction. It won the Big Wood Award in 2008 and has decided that all its new construction will be completed in wood.
Martinsons, which says it is the largest Nordic provider of apartment buildings made of solid wood, has previous experience in supplying eight-storey buildings.
“That we now take a step into the largest market [Stockholm] on behalf of a reputable client is a large and important breakthrough for us,” said sales manager Thomas Staflund.
