M&M Timber is preparing for the springtime rush on sales of gardening products, particularly the “grow your own” variety.
The garden and landscape specialist has created a new product display centre to help its independent trade outlets capitalise on the increased sales opportunities.
The 20m² display space, which is designed to maximise sales appeal, features M&M’s horticultural range of treated timber products, including raised “veggie beds”, planters, a cold frame, a poultry ark, a herb wheel and a growbag stand. The display is bordered by cottage-style fencing and point of sale information.
The display centre costs around £750 and includes free on-site installation.
“We’ve seen a considerable market swing towards ‘good life’ gardening over the last few years,” said Nigel Poyner, managing director. “This sector of the market is obviously recession resistant and we are delighted to report that our sales are growing year-on-year.” He added that sales of veggie beds in 2010 were 60% up on the previous year.
The Kidderminster-based company reports that many of its larger independent garden centre customers have negotiated their stock allocations well in advance of scheduled deliveries for March, in anticipation of a “buying spree” over April’s bumper crop of public holidays.
