The Wood Protection Association (WPA) has broken new ground with the launch of a specification system for every type of modified wood.
The WPA’s new modified wood specification manual introduces a performance classification scheme for modified woods similar to the WPA Commodity Code system that is widely used in the UK for specifying fire retardant and preservative pre-treated wood.
Modified wood is defined as technology which uses a chemical, biological or physical agent like heat, singularly or in combination, to make otherwise perishable timber species highly durable and stable.
The WPA Modified Wood Specification Manual is published as a PDF on CD. It costs £35 including postage. The WPA is offering to supply free updates of the manual for the next five years to the purchasers of the first 50 copies.
