Jewson will soon take delivery of its first consignment of timber products to be certified by the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC).
A shipment of tropical hardwood plywood, produced by Samling, will arrive at the Jewson Internal Timber Supply depot at Hull in late January for distribution among the company’s 600-plus branches.
The 200m3 of MTCC-certified stock is part of a 2,500m3 cargo of tropical hardwood plywood.
Jewson procurement manager Dale Warren said: “This first shipment is the result of a systematic approach by both parties to increase the level of independently certified legal timber based products manufactured by Samling and marketed by Jewson in the UK.”
