Myanmar’s teak exports fell 14.3% to 132,727m3 in the first half of 2002 compared with the same period in 2001 – but its hardwood exports grew 48% to 22,740m3.
Total export earnings from teak and hardwood during the period amounted to US$140m, with teak accounting for US$101m
Timber export earnings represented 9.63% of the country’s total hard currency earned during the period.
